Pinkpt has been trying for a few weeks to get back on the search engines (especially google) for the keyword “Neopets”, but they will never get on page 1 because they’re missing the biggest factor of ranking and that’s building up quality links with other fansites as well as other websites that’ll link to Pinkpt - using Neopets as its link anchor.
Not only did they try to revamp the site by redirect the main domain to /neopets for about a few weeks, they’ve now reverted the domain name back to the regular site and /neopets is still running, but the main site continues to receive updates while the neopets section doesn’t. What are they trying to do? Not only do both sections have the same content, they will also get hit by the “duplicate content” penality by the search engines.
If Pinkpt really wants to rank for “neopets”, we’d recommend that they change the following:
Their title tag from “PPT - Your #1 Neopets (Neopets.com) Fansite! Home to the Neopets l33t, battlers, guild owners and the occasional Neopets staff.” to “PPT - Your #1 Neopets (Neopets.com) fansite. Neopets cheats, neopets guides and the occasional neopets staff.” Their title just needs work and their current title sucks. Their meta description also needs work and it currently reads as “Neopets just got a whole lot better with this Neopets fan site. Providing Neopets articles, solutions, avatars, guides and free everything, you don’t know Neopets until you know PPT. This site isn’t affiliated with Neopets.”, however; it should be “Neopets has gotten a whole lot better with this neopets fansite. Providing neopets articles, neopets cheats, solutions and everything you don’t know about Neopets!”. They’re trying to tweak their description to read well to the visitors, but they should also be focused on the search engines as well - because if they can rank for the “neopets” term a lot more neopets players would be checking out PPT on a daily basis.
