Ataria, a Subeta rip?

Filed under: Virtual pets — Tags: — admin @ 7:22 pm

Have you ever noticed a strangely familiar resemblance between Ataria and Subeta? We have certainly taken a notice to this. Rumors have spread throughout the web that Ataria is a Subeta “wannabe”. We have also heard that Ataria lies about its statistics. What do you think?

Right off the bat, you will notice that the layouts of Ataria and Subeta are very similar. It appears that the layout at Ataria has changed for Halloween, but it still resembles Subeta greatly (although, less so than the past). Even with the slight changes, Ataria still has the basic structure of subeta. The links, sidebars, content area, header, and images all seem like direct rips from Subeta. Have you also noticed the little icons that Ataria uses next to all user links? Guess what, Subeta also has them. I wonder why?

Here are some other things that look the same between Ataria and Subeta? The forums look the same, and so does the mail system. Ataria even separates their new news posts like Subeta. Subeta uses a horizontal rule, while Ataria uses a border - not much of a difference there. Many of the games on Ataria are also at Subeta. Even the donation shops are set up the same. Subeta has the Recycle Beast, and Ataria has the Hobo. Both have the same exact function.

Please note that I have not played either game a great deal. I see all these similarities just by browsing briefly. I’m sure theres a lot we are missing.

What about the human avatar systems? A lot of sites have these now, but they don’t all look exactly the same. Take a look at these human avatars.

They look much more like each other than say, a Marapet and Subeta avatar. We have heard that an old Subeta artist works for Ataria, so that would explain why both sites have the same art style.

We could probably keep finding more resemblances, but by now I am sure you know what our opinion is on Ataria. We do agree that Ataria appears to be ripping Subeta. Someone should probably let them know. We can only assume that the rumors of false stats on Ataria are true, but maybe thats a post for another time.

  1. While it’s true that Ataria does infact, look like Subeta, it plays differently.

  2. Except Ataria has a much nicer community than subeta. They dont have pets, so it’s not a rip of subeta. You could say Subeta is a rip of neopets couldn’t you? And Neo is a rip from some older pet sites. Doesn’t matter, they dont rip art, so Ataria is no rip, and better than subeta.

  3. Subeta is better then anything and the useres on there are very nice, you may think they are mean but they are not, they just don’t liked to be annoyed.
I think subeta is the best petsite and its way better then Ataria.

  4. While Ataria may seem like a Subeta copy- let’s remember that most of what you mention isn’ umm … original anyway?
Countless piles upon site’s have layouts like Ataria, and Subeta. How can you say that the ‘content’ area relates to that of Subeta when piles of sites generally have a header at the top, links to the left, and to the right of those links, you have content. A very common way to organise a site - not fresh from Subeta.
The images - unless they’ve been copied directly from Subeta cant be called rips, because they have to be produced.
Also, the little icons next the usernames wasn’t Subeta’s idea. That came from Creature World and probably somewhere else before that. Many of the games at Subeta are originally Creature World creations.
There are some artists there who used to work for Subeta, but, the avatar system is totally different - with Subeta you can totally customise your avatar, but on Ataria you can have a “Male Punk Avatar” and a “Female Punk Avatar” the clothes are drawn on, that is your avatar, you cannot change it.

To me this is actually a really childish post, as far as I’m aware, Keith actually has an account at Ataria (as he seems to at every pet site) not that he uses it. These are really serious accusations, I think you ought to be careful what you say. Learning some tact might be good.
